New products and ideas straight from the largest music event of the year
I’m always thrilled to go to NAMM. It’s definitely a unique experience that always inspires me and at the same time overwhelms me but ultimately enriches my knowledge of the music industry. And did I mention, I can’t wait till some of those new instruments and accessories are gonna be available at Penny Lane!
I had a great time meeting with some of our banjo builders and of course, it was also fun to catch up with some old friends
like Tony Trischka and Jens Krueger at the Deering Banjo Booth.
The new product from Deering are not too many but we wilł be definitely getting the new Goodtimes Banjoleles now available also with a tenor neck.
Gold Tone Banjos also now offers some pretty cool mini banjos which could be a lot of fun for the banjo player who wants to travel and be able to practice on the road as well as sound like a uke banjo player and not have to relearn to play a new instrument.
I also picked up this wonderful open back banjo from Ome. It will be at Penny Lane at the beginning of February.
A great new product for banjo players comes from Daddario: the micro tuner for the banjo pot! They also have one specifically for the Violin and one that mounts in the sound hole of a guitar or uke. Pretty cool. We will have some at the beginning of February.
Great news from Shubb Capos too, the new fine tune capos are going to be available again soon after the sold out due to their incredible success!
New strings from D’addario promises a longer lasting string and a deeper tone.. We got a few in so come on by let us know what you think!
Teton guitars has 16 new models and they’re amazing. Check this one here with the beveled armrest. $750 discounted from $1,000. Wait till you hear how it sounds!
One of the highlights of the NAMM Show 2016 was definitely the booth appearance of Jake Shimabukuro at the Kamaka booth. I had a chance to see him play up close and
actually shoot a video which I posted a couple of days ago.
Meeting with Kanile’a ukuleles was great as always and I managed to pick up 6 Kanile’a ukuleles for Penny Lane. Those are all premium Koa and look and sound amazing.
Penny Lane is also now a distributor for Shure microphones. Make sure you stop by to check their newest HD Condenser microphone for your iPhone. Yes, you read it right. You can now record HD video and HD audio and stereo with your iPhone. The best part? The price. Only $149
Lastly, are Collins guitars coming to Penny Lane? We sure hope so. We are still in the talks but I really hope we can bring these awesome guitars to Penny Lane!
