Artist Bio:
Stuart Fuchs is a multi instrumentalist who is passionate about bringing musical play into everyone’s life. His sound palette includes Guitar, Ukulele, Native American flute, Aboriginal didjeridoo and the Bolivian charango. He founded the nationally touring gypsy-jazz group “Babik” – featured on NPR & performing its symphonic arrangements of Django Reinhardt’s music with symphonic orchestras!
Stuart delights in entertaining audiences at festivals and, though his innovative workshops, introducing people of all backgrounds to their “long lost musician” – from Fortune 500 company executives, school children, and participants at Yoga retreats. For over six years Stuart has worked as an artist in residence at Roswell Park Cancer Institute leading patients, families and hospital staff in the creative process for well-being and emotional release. He has been a featured TedX speaker and was recently awarded a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts for composing healing music for and with cancer patients! Stuart is an endorsing artist with Kala Ukuleles and Planet Waves.
“The Uke in Black” – A Johnny Cash Ukulele Jam Workshop!
Johnny Cash was one of the most influential American songwriters of the last century. Often remembered as a country music icon, his music and poetry embraces blues, gospel, cowboy ballads, rock n’ roll and railroad songs. In this fun workshop we’ll play & sing many of Cash’s most celebrated songs in addition to many less known “deep cuts”. You’ll learn country & blues rhythm accompaniment patterns while playing Johnny Cash’s songs. In addition we’ll learn many of the cool & tawngy lead lines of his lead guitarist Luther Perkins that characterized Johnny Cash’s classic Sun Records sound! This workshop is open to ALL LEVELS of player.
