Escaping Pavement in Concert At Penny Lane and Mandolin and Vocal Workshop before the Concert
Vocal Workshop:
How to Sing with others
Main focus: To inform others on the different techniques and approaches that will make singing with other people fun and exciting.

-How you hold the shape of your mouth on the inside and outside affecting intonation
-the different sounds we can make with vowels
-starting and ending words together
-vocal slides
-arrangement of vocals throughout a song
-basic harmony for two and three parts
-demonstrations of all of the above!
Mandolin Workshop:
Main focus: To provide tips for the beginner to advanced mandolin player on how to improve their skills in the technical and musical realms.

-left hand technique, fingering of basic chords and different voicings
-chopping, it’s usefulness and effectiveness, and the mandolin’s role in a traditional bluegrass setting
-right hand technique focusing on a few different picking techniques
-Crash course on the history of modern mandolin playing with a focus on Bill Monroe
-Thinking outside the box for mandolin inspiration-taking licks from artists that don’t play bluegrass or mandolin and applying them to a bluegrass context
