Rik is a Berklee College of Music Graduate with over 30 years playing experience. He has co-written with Grammy Award winning guitarist EARL KLUGH and, most notably, continues Master Classes and personal interaction with his mentor and “big brother” – legendary guitarist PAT MARTINO. Rik has a high level of proficiency in performing, reading, composing, and improvising, with significant teaching experience in rock, pop, classical, jazz and blues- beginner intermediate and advanced students are welcome. He finds it gratifying to share in the student’s excitement throughout the learning process, ultimately witnessing progress. “While I assess and set reachable goals centered primarily around the music my student wants to learn, it is important to me that each student finds the learning experience fun and enjoyable while, at the same time understanding that, dedication and practice are what lead to progress.” Rik provides a solid understanding of theory, harmony, and different approaches to improvisation, while encouraging self- expression and creativity throughout the entire learning process.
