Description
Ultra-Violet light-cured polyester finish technology has been around for nearly 40 years. Its use in the musical instrument industry has gained in popularity with Taylor Guitar paving the way. Currently Kanile’a Ukulele is the only ukulele manufacture in Hawaii that has converted to this revolutionary high gloss finish. To achieve a thin protective coat requires a lot of skill, knowledge, and patients. Staying true to their goal of providing the finest handcrafted instruments available, they embraced UV and now lead the industry with this revolutionary finish.
One of the many benefits of UV technology is the ability to cure the finish on an instrument without having to evaporate its Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC). This environmentally responsible approach to finishing, combined with a finish that has the ability to expand and contract with the wood along with showcasing the natural beauty, color, and wood grain on the instrument.
The finish is one of the first points noticed by the Kanile’a Family (Kanile’a Owners). This durable, thin, true high gloss finish that was designed specifically for musical instruments truly protects the ukulele, yet allows for tonal brilliance, which ultimately sets Kanile’a Ukulele apart from any other builder.
